At this year’s NeoCon, the surface design brand opened a playful new Chicago showroom at TheMart. UrbanLab designed the 2,400-square-foot space as an architectural promenade, guiding visitors through installations like columns composed of cushioned upholstery in Wolf-Gordon fabrics and circular nooks enclosed by the brand’s drapery. A 50-foot lenticular wall, which will change annually, currently showcases Cardoon, a Type II vinyl wallcovering, in Prismatic, one of its four gradient colorways. The striking pattern takes inspiration from 19th-century botanical studies of artichoke flowers – but gets a punk edge from colors like acid green and fluorescent red. Cardoon is fully customizable, so users can crop, scale, or resize the pattern, bringing the showroom’s Alice in Wonderland vibe to any interior.
